Individual Customized Course

Program Content – Customized programs meet 2 hours per week for 10 weeks.

  • Assessment of Spoken English Proficiency. The initial meeting will include an evaluation and the development of customized target objectives for the program.
  • Instruction in the mechanics of the pronunciation of the vowels and consonants of American English.
  • Focused activities to improve American English speaking and listening discrimination skills.
  • Instruction in the use of American English rhythm and intonation patterns.
  • Practice activities to build pronunciation, verbal fluency and basic grammar skills.
  • Guidelines for improving pronunciation and intonation skills for personal and professional vocabulary, telephone skills and conversation with customers and
    co-workers.

  • Half Day Individual Workshop

    Program Content- half day programs meet for 4 hours, on site.

  • Assessment of spoken English proficiency. The initial meeting will include an evaluation and the development of customized target objectives for the program.
  • Instruction in the mechanics of the pronunciation of 8 vowels and consonants based on the results of the evaluation.
  • Instruction in the use of the basic American English rhythm and intonation patterns based on the results of the assessment.
  • Practice activities to build pronunciation and verbal fluency based on the results of the assessment using 20 professional vocabulary words in simulated telephone and meeting activities.
  • Instructor feedback and practice recommendation form.

    PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS/PRESENTATION SKILLS

    (Build American English Speaking Skills)

    Individual Course

    This program is designed to address the aspects of public speaking that are necessary for effective presentation skills in small and large group settings. The program meets weekly, 2 hours per week for 8 weeks on site.

    Program Objectives

  • Improve speech and pronunciation skills in business meetings and presentations.
  • Improve the use of voice and intonation patterns in business meetings and presentations.
  • Instruction in culturally acceptable non verbal communication: eye contact, posture.
  • Develop skills for organizing a presentation.
  • Develop slide preparation skills for presentations.
  • Instruction in the use of audience strategies for gaining and maintaining the audience’s attention and participation.

    WRITING SKILLS

    This is an online program focusing on general writing skills for emails, memos, and letters. The program focuses on grammar, organization and conciseness. Flexible scheduling is available.
